About COMPES

What is COMPES?

The Coalition of Minority Professional Engineering Societies (COMPES) was formed in 2000 as an initiative between the NSBE, SHPE, and SWE Detroit sections. The goal of this partnership is to strengthen and build each other up to better reach each individual society's goals.

Society Mission Statements

NSBE Mission Statement

To increase the number of culturally responsible Black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community.

SHPE Mission Statement

Changing lives in Detroit by inspiring and motivating young Hispanic students to achieve educational excellence in STEM fields through mentoring and community presence; as well as enhancing career opportunities for Hispanics by providing a strong professional network.

SWE Mission Statement

The Society of Women Engineers stimulates women to achieve their full potential in careers as engineers and leaders, expands the image of the engineering profession as a positive force in improving the quality of life, and demonstrates the value of diversity.
